CMIT 140 - Introduction to Operating Systems This course is an introduction to operating systems. It will address the core fundamental principles of what an operating system is and how it works. Students will learn about standard operating systems functions such as memory, process/thread, file system, input/output, storage and device management. Students are introduced to the three most popular operating systems for personal computers (Windows, OSX and Linux). Mobile operating systems are also discussed. The course is taught as guided research and is hands-on learning. Credits: 3
