COR 240 - Bodies From Neolithic fertility goddesses to contemporary piercings and tattoos, human cultures are inextricably entangled with ideas about the body. Perceptions and experiences of the body influence ethical debates about media representation, healthcare, and biotechnology. This course explores “embodiment” in the Western tradition: How do we know ourselves through our physical bodies? How are different types of bodies represented in our arts and media?
