Producing
From script development, pitching, budgeting, marketing and distribution, the role of a film producer is vital to the success of a film. The skills of a film producer should be grounded in filmmaking, business, budgeting, planning and communication in order to be successful. The producing specialization will deepen those skill sets for students who aspire to be film producers.
Screenwriting
The screenwriting specialization will equip students with the tools and inspiration to create engaging, powerful scripts through the study of compelling characterization, dialogue and story structure in multiple genres. Students will also analyze current market conditions and evolving business models.
Directing
This specialization provides the opportunity to explore and focus upon different types of projects including narrative, documentary, and experimental. Students will understand the inner workings and logistics of filmmaking from inception to screening. It also provides a thorough grounding in working with the essential creative teams that make up a film: actors, screenwriters, producers, directors of photography, and editors to create and guide their vision for their motion pictures.
Cinematography
From the pre-visualization of the image to the final color grade, the cinematography specialization provides a thorough and extensive hands on experience for students looking to enter into the professional craft. Students will learn the skills needed by a director of photography, gaffer using professional cameras and lighting gear. They will employ professional color grading software to perfect their captured image.
